FAQS

SAHM primarily treats privately owned pets that are companion animals such as cats and dogs. We are not equipped to treat large animals such as goats, cattle and horses.

Yes, stray animals will receive life-saving treatment at SAHM at either no cost or subsidized rates depending on the condition and criticality of the animal brought in. We always prioritise the sickest animals first, so at busy times only the critical animals will be seen immediately.

Absolutely. We have a fully equipped emergency team eager to help your pets in distress.

We are looking to start accepting emergency cases and consultations on a limited trial basis in March. The new departments will begin operations in phases in the coming months.

There are many unfortunate medical situations which will require your pet to stay at the hospital for medical treatment. Rest assured they will be cared for in one of our several inpatient wards as well as they are cared by you. If they’re really sick they’ll be in one of our intensive wards, which are staffed 24 hours/day – giving real “nose to nose” care.

No. But the facility has a separate annexe that houses an animal welfare NGO – Welfare of Stray Dogs (WSD). This NGO will be responsible for stray animal sterilization.

We expect to have ambulances on stand-by on a very limited and paid basis about 3 months down the line for extreme emergencies. It’s always better to bring your animal in to see us – with all of the equipment and a full staff base we can do a much better job of treating your animals in our house rather than in yours!

MCGM has leased the land to SAHM on a long-term basis and continues to stay involved.
Tata Trusts have fully funded the construction and operation of this facility.

We’re looking forward to addressing any medical emergencies you may face with your pets, around the clock through our emergency and critical care team of specialists. We will be able to provide lifesaving surgeries, look after serious cases through our in-patient kennels, and in addition our CT, MRI scanner, and inhouse laboratory will be up and running to be able to provide accurate diagnosis.

SAHM Is equipped only for medical treatment.

You can send in your resumes to careers@sahmumbai.com and we will add it to our database. Should any opportunity arise, we will let you know. Excited to work with you!

In the next phase, we’ll start specialised surgeries, such as orthopedics and laparoscopic work (keyhole surgery), complex medical management, and advanced oncology. Also, our physiotherapy department will be up and running.

We really appreciate your sentiment, but SAHM is a hospital and does not have any volunteering opportunities.

Thank you so much for reaching out to us, and we’re sorry to hear your furry friend needs urgent help. But until we open doors to the general public, we’d encourage you to go and see your current vet and let them help you keep your pet in glowing health.

This is truly a first-of-its-kind project in the country. We are very committed to making it a success in Mumbai, after which we can look to other cities.
